6 Stress Relieving Foods

Cortisol is a stress hormone produced by the adrenal glands. Fortunately, there are ways to lower cortisol levels, and it’s as easy as eating some of these foods.

I start the day eating oatmeal with mixed-in whey protein powder and berries, the complex carbs release serotonin into the body which is a feel-good hormone and reduces stress in your brain.

Want to lose weight and stress? Cannellini beans or white beans help lower stress, and also promote weight loss and regulate blood sugar levels.

Also, many studies have shown that eating asparagus boosts mood and can reduces stress.

Pistachios are only about 3 calories per nut, and they also help balance cortisol levels in the body.

You may not know this but oysters have been shown to lower the emission of cortisol into the body, while promoting a healthy immune system.

My favorite tip, enjoy some dark chocolate, the polyphenols and flavonoids in dark chocolate help lower blood pressure and can provide a feeling of calmness. A study showed that eating 1.5 ounces of dark chocolate for two weeks lowered the cortisol levels in anxious adults.

Watch the potions ladies, too much goes straight to your tush and muffin top and then the stress cycle begins all over.
